It's been too long

It feels so good to be typing on my very own computer again. After sharing, borrowing and all of the hassle of not having my own lap top I now really appreciate this little life saving machine!! SO much has happened in the span of 5 or 6 weeks that I was computer-less but to keep things short, I slayed the majority of my exams, I burned a book, I spent an amazing holiday at home and now I'm stoked on 2nd semester and rekindling my love for everything on the west coast...

Yesterday was the first day back to class, what a nice change to be back into a routine. I will only be taking four courses this semester, hopefully giving me time to get a very part time job (allowing me to meet new friends and forget about my studies for a few hours a week). So, I am taking French, Writing: Theory and Practice, Psychology and Intro to public speaking. With the exception of psych I am so excited to get learning. Call me a nerd, but for the first time in my education history I am genuinely interested in my program. I want to be successful in PR and I really believe I can be. I am so excited for my future, lately I've really been trying to remind myself that I need to enjoy the journey along the way.

Isn't it strange how we are always told to have a goal and to never lose sight of that goal, but as we focus on that goal I find I close my mind to the beautiful things happening all around me. I forget to live my life in the present, in the now! I get lost in plans and lists, the need to know what will happen next. This year, 2011, is the year that I will learn how to ride the wave, go with the flow and learn how to say "fuck it".  I need to listen to all of those cliches, the ones that I would always shake my head at. I want to stop and smell the roses. I want to be the happiest I can be right now. Don't get me wrong, I'm not throwing all my plans to the wind. I will always write lists when I'm up at 3am and I will always dream of my career, working hard to make it a reality. But, I'm not going to forget that I can't control the future, I can just control what's happening now and I want to always be in the now.

Ah, I forgot how amazing it felt to write my thoughts. I know I could always use my journal, but there is really something so very satisfying to publish it. Maybe someone will read it, maybe it will never be read. I always secretly hope a complete stranger stumbles upon my blog and gets me. They relate to one paragraph even one sentence, they feel what I'm saying.

One step closer,
a
